Material Description
Fluorosint® is a proprietary mixture in which synthetically manufactured mica is chemically linked to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This bonding results in properties not normally attainable in reinforced PTFE. Fluorosint® grades offer an excellent combination of low frictional properties and dimensional stability. It offers excellent chemical resistance and continuous use temperature of 500°F (260 °C). Compared with PTFE, it has higher load carrying capability, 1/9th of the deformation under load, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion.
If you need components for highly specialized equipment, these qualities make Fluorosint® custom parts a perfect fit for your next project. They have proven themselves to be quite useful in semiconductor systems, scientific instruments, medical technology, energy applications, and industrial machinery. We work closely with customer designs to produce Fluorosint® plastic machined parts with clean geometries, a reliable fit, and the material characteristics engineers need. Grades of Fluorosint®
Fluorosint® 500
Fluorosint® 500 has nine times greater resistance to deformation under load than unfilled PTFE. Its coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) approaches the expansion rate of aluminum and is 1/5th that of PTFE — often eliminating fit and clearance problems. It is 1/3rd harder than PTFE, has better wear characteristics, and maintains low frictional properties. Fluorosint® 500 is also non-abrasive to most mating materials.
Fluorosint ® 207
Fluorosint® 207’s unmatched dimensional stability, excellent creep resistance, and white color uniquely position this material to serve FDA regulated applications. It is non-permeable in steam and complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR 175.300. Its relative wear rate is 1/20th the rate of PTFE below 300°F (150°C).
